Nick Guse is a visual artist and trained physicist. He creates large-scale sculptures and
installations that encourage viewers to take responsibility for the creation and use of seemingly
out-of-control technologies, such as nuclear fusion energy and autonomous deep-sea mining.
Othering the technological world gives rise to destructive fictions. And because our fictions
are the powerful origin of our futures, identifying with our technological heritage is essential
to building a future we want to live in. In works like Sonnige Grüße (Sunny Greetings),
a walk through ‘plasma’ storm, Nick Guse invites viewers to share an experience and start a conversation
about the technological world we are building.
After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Accelerator and Nanostructure Physics at the University of
Hamburg, Guse completed a Master’s degree in Fine Arts at the University of Fine Arts Hamburg,
where he specialised in concept design and spatial installation. His projects have been on view
at Frappant, Resonanzraum, and ZOLLO (Hamburg), and at Kulturviertel Regensburg.
